After 14 hours of talks the Bun kerk Hill Co and the Department of Health and Welfare announced a $250 000 study of long range lead poisoning effects in Kellogg An immediate family by family blood lead level survey in the smelter area will identify children not responding to treatment for removal from harmful environments Special in plant measures include laundering clothing changing workers before home dirt area graveling and home purchases within a half mile of the smelter Bunker Hill will also improve the baghouse and fence the blast furnace Longer term plans may include building a new bag house at the smelter Officials will study additional homes within one mile of the Smelterville area and report findings at the October board meeting in Boise.
