Discrimination Case Heard By Idaho Human Rights Panel

Eleanor Hoisington sues Selkirk Electric in Oldtown Idaho alleging sex discrimination after being fired on October 13 1972 to make way for a male hire. Endicott claims two weeks notice given for poor performance and that a man was later hired. The three member Bonner County panel will issue findings within 15 days with possible referral to prosecutors or state attorney general if needed.

City Lawn Damage Suspect Detained After High Speed Run

Two witnesses said a blue car sped over the city beach lawn around 9:00 P.M. Wednesday. About 150 dollars in damage occurred before Sandpoint police detained the driver. Authorities say charges are expected to be filed today.

Montana youth charged in August Big Pink Trading Post burglary

Frank Lee Probert, 18, Dillon, faces first degree burglary charges in the August 13 theft from Big Pink Trading Post. Jewelry valued around $1000 recovered from a Spokane pawn shop aided by an identified pawn incident. Probert extradited to Sandpoint. additional charges expected. A juvenile questioned after August 27 Dub's Drive burglary was released to guardians.

New Officers Elected By Sandpoint Chamber

The Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce Board elected Bob Farmin as president and Fred Darnell as first vice president for the coming year. Gary Pietsch and Tom Robideaux were named second and third vice presidents, with Barb Remmers continuing as secretary. The annual dinner and installation is set for Friday October 24 at the Elks Club with guest speaker John Whittaker of General Telephone. Tickets are available through chamber directors.

Sandpoint Lions Charter Night Set

The Sandpoint Lions Club marks its 22nd charter night with a dinner at the Sandpoint Elks Lodge this Saturday. Guest speaker is Lions District Governor Amon Groves, with Pete Thompson presiding and Don Mitchell as master of ceremonies. Groves, elected district governor in Penticton last May, previously chaired zones and the Spokane Lions Council.

Innocent Pleas Entered by John A. Stevens in Rape Case

John A. Stevens 27 of Sand Point pleaded not guilty to charges of forceable rape and attempted forceable rape arising from a Sept. 21 incident northeast of here. He was bound over to District Court last Dec. 18, is free on $5,000 bond, with a jury trial scheduled for Jan. 26 to 28. Stevens underwent a psychiatric exam determining his competence to assist counsel.

Priorities Told In Stream Flow Study

A special study identifies 11 Idaho streams for future minimum flow investigations to support fish and wildlife. Findings will guide the state water plan, with streams including the Clark Fork, Clearwater, East Fork Salmon, Lemhi, Moyie, Pahsimeri 01, Priest, Silver Creek, Snake River reach from American Falls to Lewiston, South Fork Snake, and St. Charles Creek.
