Five snowmobilers rescue two hunters in Bonner County
On a snowy High Drive rescue in Bonner County five Ski-Doo snowmobilers led by Bill Gill saved Bert Saunders of Dufort Road and Jerry Goldberry from Vancouver after a night in a snowbound pickup. The hunters, poorly clothed and with heat from the vehicle, were found in good shape apart from mild exhaust fumes.

Deputies Fly Prisoner to Blackfoot for Psychiatric Eval
Sheriff Robert Wilcox says Deputy Howard Scott and Deputy Jerry James accompanied prisoner John Wesley Redden, 42, by airplane from Sandpoint to Idaho Hospital South at Blackfoot for psychiatric evaluation. Redden faces charges of attempted escape and assault with a dangerous weapon after alleged attack on Deputy Fields on November 9. He was held on grand theft auto related to a pickup theft.

Fire Destroys Home and Girl Scout Event Planned
A fire destroyed another home on Upper Pack River Road leaving a family of five with nothing but the King family’s clothing and essentials gone. Cadette Girl Scout Troop 165 in Sandpoint sponsored a December 2 program at Sandpoint Junior High featuring Cydney Stedman of Spokane who attended a national Girl Scout gathering in Danvers Massachusetts. Community volunteers organized aid for the Kings and collected clothing and items via Toys for Tots contacts.
