Northern Lights plans a 30 percent across the board increase and Pacific Power and Light seeks a 19.1 percent rise as part of a broader move by two local utilities. PP&L bills rise on or after December 19, while Northern Lights awaits Rural Electrification Administration and Bonneville approvals to take effect in February 1975.
Utilities announce higher electricity rates amid the energy crunch as Northern Lights boosts domestic prices by about 30 percent and Pacific Power and Light raises rates by 19 percent. Labor costs rise 11 percent and material costs surge for cables, while higher interest rates and maintenance expenses push costs to consumers.
Sandpoint physician Dr. Robert Rust completed a Bonner General Hospital CPR course where he taught advanced CPR procedures to hospital professional personnel. The program stemmed from a National Conference co sponsored by the American Heart Association and the National Academy of Sciences National Research Council held in Washington. The conference covered Emergency Cardiac Care and recommended training of medical allied health and professional paramedical personnel in CPR to AHA standards. The hospital course ended Wednesday.
Steven W. Bly announced a $1,278 payment to Bonner County School District from the Federal Bureau of Outdoor Recreation for Clark Fork Park. The Land and Water Conservation Fund provides a 50 percent federal match administered by Idaho Parks and Recreation. Idaho has used $9.5 million of L and W C funds in nine years.
The Bonner County Sheriff's office reports Murphy's Lounge was burglarized, with about $130 taken from the cash register. Entry was gained by kicking in the back door while Murphy was away dining.

Donations for Toys for Tots reach $1,955 with over two weeks left to meet a $4,000 county goal. Daily Bee Publisher Pete Thompson matched $205, Lions Club member Bob Glock added $10, Rotary’s John Major led a $148 push, and Sandpoint Lions Club pitched in $1,500.
Idaho’s retiring superintendent of public instruction D F Del Engelking praises the state’s education system as equal to or better than many states. He notes students prove by achievements after schooling, despite criticism that Idaho spends less on education. He served 49 years in Idaho education and 16 years as chief educational officer.
