In Laclede 51 residents voted on a 230000 water bond with 46 yeas and 5 nos. The approval funds a about 450000 project cost for a new system serving about 100 families with half financed by a Farmers Home Administration grant. Wilderness Study Area Maps Ready Next Month
National Forest Service identifies 237 roadless areas totaling 9,323,225 acres in its northern region for potential wilderness designation. By mid December, location maps will be available from regional headquarters in Missoula and the Montana and northern Idaho offices. The review followed 19 Montana and Idaho workshops with 3,500 participants. 29,480 acres were deleted and 111,540 acres added across 41 areas. Further reevaluation involves 12 North Dakota and 4 Montana areas totaling 460,620 acres.

Spokane Opera House Won’t Carry Crosby Name
The Spokane Advisory Board voted seven to zero against naming the city opera house for Bing Crosby. Chair John Williams said Crosby’s legacy centered on film and radio rather than opera performances.
