Scouting honors awarded at Panhandle Council banquet
Three Sandpoint residents active in Scouting were honored at the Idaho Panhandle Council banquet in Coeur d Alene. Audrey Vallieres received the Silver Fawn Award, while her husband earned the Silver Beaver Award for distinguished service. Ron May was elected District Chairman, joining council leaders including J Gordon Giles and others. Plaques were given for redevelopment work at Camp Easton, with Don Largent recognized for engineering the Camp Easton water system.

The International Bureau of Expositions approved Spokane Washington as the site for Expo 74 on the theme Man and his Environment. The decision allows President Nixon to invite nations to participate with national pavilions and opens Congress to consider a U S pavilion. Site is Havermale Island area, Spokane River, 51 acres, with an expected regional impact around 125 million dollars.
