U S pet food makers buy significant grain plus scraps and by products, but grain used for pets is mainly animal feed grade. Distilleries use 8.8 billion pounds yearly versus 2.49 billion pounds for pet foods. U S grain production totaled 440 billion pounds in 1974.

UPS Intrastate Service Expands to Idaho Hub in Sandpoint
United Parcel Service has begun intrastate service across Idaho with Sandpoint as the northern hub. Naples Youth Killed in Hunting Accident
In Boundary County Naples 16 year old Guy Wayne Haddock died after being accidentally shot while hunting with two brothers near U S highway 95. Sheriff Ketner said the oldest brother fired at a white moving object believing it to be a deer as light faded. Haddock, Bonners Ferry High School student and football team member, died at the scene from a 30 caliber bullet in his heart. He is survived by Vera Haddock and Charles Haddock’s family including three brothers and four sisters.
