Larry Sterling chairman of The Salvation Army Service Extension Committee says the annual Christmas appeal will be received in area homes next week. The 1976 theme is Sharing is Caring and residents are urged to support the fund drive.
Schweitzer Ski Patrol members undertake a 40 hour advanced first aid course with CPR training taught by Sandpoint firefighters Dean Raynor and Darrius Williams and Dr. Robert Rust guiding life saving procedures. The program covers air passage, mouth to mouth resuscitation, chest compressions, infant technique, pulse checks, and solo or two person scenarios.
President Warren Pomeroy announces the Sandpoint Kiwanis Club’s 50th anniversary on November 18. The club organized November 18 1926 with Spokane Downtown Club as sponsor, chartered May 5 1927, and now has about 45 active members.
A San Francisco Chronicle report details an anonymous man paying nearly ten thousand dollars for a biologically related child from an unmarried donor. The 11 week old girl, born Sept 6, weighs five pounds six ounces with red hair and blue eyes, and is at home doing well. The mother was chosen from 160 responses spanning 18 states and several countries.
A gasoline tanker truck crashed and burned one mile west of Kendrick Idaho killing two men. The driver was identified as Doug Martin of Moscow. The passenger’s identity was not determined. Both victims were burned beyond recognition.

Boise officials say there is no cause for alarm over radioactive fallout from China's largest nuclear blast. Senior physicist Bob Funderburg notes fallout depends on weather and sampling will take three to seven days to measure. Even with precipitation, increases remain unlikely to pose hazards and would fade within about a week.
The 12 year old Jimmy Johnston Morton harvested his first deer near home to help his family but was stopped by three men in a red Sandpoint pickup who seized the animal and fled. He had walked over 100 miles this season and faced a harsh winter after the theft.
