Evans Plans Early Idaho Budget Release

Gov. John V. Evans told the Idaho Taxpayers Association he will unveil his executive budget between December 1 and 15 to start earlier budget hearings. He pledged a lean budget with no general tax increases and emphasized meeting priority needs. The governor's Task Force on Local Government urged local option taxes and greater home rule to fund cities and counties, with a 20‑item package due to Evans next month for the 1978 Legislature.

County Commissioners Approve Zone Change for Auto Shop

Dale Lee owner of Kaniksu Investment won approval Monday to change a Baldy Road parcel from agriculture suburban to industrial. Planning Coordinator Sam Wentz said Lee plans to use an existing structure for an auto body repair shop. The request was tabled last month after a public hearing, then approved with Lee as the only attendee.

Yager Seeks Ward 1 Post In Sandpoint Highway Race
