Driver Cited In Accident In Sandpoint

Calvin D. DeBoer 38 of Coeur d Alene was cited for driving under the influence after his pickup hit a parked car on Pine Street near First and Pine in Sandpoint. The Tibbetts vehicle sustained about 900 dollars in damage while DeBoer’s truck incurred 200 dollars. Bond was set at 250 dollars and he was released after posting. No injuries reported.

Sudden Stop Injures Three Bonner County Teens

Three Bonner County girls were slightly injured when a car driven by Patricia Rief 18 Sandpoint failed to take a corner at Michigan and Olive Streets, slamming into railroad tracts and stopping abruptly. Connie Buck 17 Dover and Debbie DeVries 19 Sandpoint were thrown into the windshield. both treated and released the same night with minor injuries. No citations were issued.

Veterans Day Closures in Sandpoint Retail Scene

Barbara Remmers of the Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce reports a majority of Sandpoint stores will close Wednesday for Veterans Day. She notes only chain stores such as J. C. Penney Sprouse Reitz Anthonys Sears and Wards will stay open, with exceptions for drugstores and supermarkets.

Train Whistles to Honor Veterans Day

Jim Miller of Burlington Northern says the home office in St Paul has ordered all engines to blow whistles for two minutes at 11 a.m. Wednesday November 11 to honor Veterans Day. The plan originated with the national VFW organization.

Six year old Karen Prestwich of North Fork Idaho was hospitalized in Salmon in satisfactory condition with a gunshot wound to the stomach after a hunting party mistook her for a deer and opened fire as she waited by a roadside barrow pit for a school bus.
