Sandpoint High School seniors held a mock election with results differing from Priest River outputs. Watts edged Anselmo 98 to 64 for County Commissioner, Church led Smith and Stoddard, Symms topped Cox, Andrus won big, Evans defeated Ravenscroft, Olson, Truby, Park, Willams, and other Democrats led in their races.

Bonner County sheriff reports one of three fugitives from a July 22 jail escape has been captured in Portland Oregon. Stefan Staskiewicz known as Steven Alexander 23 North Hollywood California was seized on a federal unlawful flight warrant. Other suspects Jesse O Donnelly 22 Lakeville Minnesota and William Morgen were still at large as the manhunt continued with details of robberies and possible SLA ties.
