Juveniles Charged In Radio Theft at Sandpoint Marina

Two juveniles about 13 were arrested by Sandpoint police after the Tuesday night theft of about $1000 in citizen radios from boats at Sandpoint Marina. Detective Bastian and Det. Gardner found a fishing reel tools and license plates tied to the case under branches by the Garden Restaurant. Officers stakeout led to the arrest about 8 30 p m. Five CB radios were recovered from the boats.

Idaho Education Chief Demands Protest Over Indian Funds Cut

Idaho Public Instruction Supt Roy Truby urged Gov. Andrus and the Idaho delegation to protest a federal funding cut for Indian education. The Bureau of Indian Affairs notified Idaho of 302 559 for the coming year, down 185 000 from last year. Loss endangers tutoring counseling and preschool programs, with critics calling it a betrayal of treaty rights.

Man's Body Found In Lake Pend Oreille

Arnold Klug aged 74 of Clark Fork was found dead Thursday in Lake Pend Oreille near Johnson Creek Landing by Edward Statzel after hounds traced the Clark Fork River. Sheriff Wilcox said drowning is the cause with no foul play expected. about $3000 was recovered from the body.

Budget in the red as 1976 deficit rises to 685 billion

Washington estimates show the federal deficit for fiscal 1976 to about 685 billion, nearly 60 billion more than initial forecasts. Unemployment is seen averaging 7.9 to 8.9 percent in 1975 and 7.9 percent in 1976, with inflation easing from earlier projections.

Idaho lawmaker seeks audit of $18,402 college contract

Rep. Ralph Wheeler of American Falls asks the Joint Finance Appropriations Committee for an audit of an $18,402 alcohol and drug abuse contract between the College of Idaho and Idaho health department. He alleges skimmed funds and subcontracting to Washington State University, which the college denies. Efforts to audit will be heard at Lewiston in June 2021.
