The Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce announced limited copies of a 125 page color book by the University of Idaho Study Team detailing redesign plans for Sandpoint. It covers Beach, Sand Creek and the downtown area with implementation steps and financing phases. Books cost 7.50 dollars and are available through Barbara Remmers or chamber members.

Immigrants Returned to Mexico Says Official Figures
Immigration officials returned 114 persons to Mexico between May 1 and May 18 for illegally entering the United States, Commissioner Bartlett Brown reported. Idaho's congressional delegation should seek help, Brown said, noting estimated total illegals in Idaho above 200 and Chicano counts near 1,000.

Ski Manager Breaks Leg While Riding Horse

Lake Pend Oreille stood at 2060 feet on Monday May 24 with inflow around 77 000 cfs. The year’s peak inflow was 115 000 cfs on May 13, while last year’s peak was 109 000 cfs on June 8. Outflows were adjusted to keep the lake at or above 2060 feet and ease downstream drainage near Cusick.

No Mail On Memorial Day Observed by Post Offices
Memorial Day May 31 will be observed as a holiday by all postal installations with no city or rural mail delivery and no post office window service. Normal Saturday and Sunday service precedes the holiday. holiday lockboxes will be maintained and mail collection and dispatch occur per holiday schedules. Special delivery mail may be provided on prepaid service where applicable.
