Hospital Dozin Ruled Illegal Dozing Behind Bonner General Hospital

Corps of Engineers official Ken Coffman ruled the concrete dozing behind Bonner General Hospital illegal and must be removed. He said no permit existed and the method risks creek erosion by washing fine material into Sand Creek. Hospital board member Jack Parker said a meeting will be held tomorrow to discuss the action.

Sandpoint Placed on EPA Clean-Up List for Wastewater

The EPA adds Sandpoint and other Idaho sites to a pollution clean-up schedule under the 1972 act. Draft permits are sent for 30 days public comment as cities fix sewer infiltration and filter washwater risks. City officials plan storm sewer sealing and roof drain redirection in downtown. The new treatment plant is not yet operational.

Cycle Mishap Injures Youth

A 17 year old Sandpoint youth, Donald O Lee, was badly injured when his motorcycle collided with a pickup driven by his 16 year old brother Douglas on U S 95 seven miles north of here. The rider was thrown from the bike after signaling a turn during an alleged harassment incident. A third motorist fired a shot in the air to deter pursuers. Gerald Mace, 41, of Trego Montana, was arrested on warrants from Washington State as the investigation continues.

Schweitzer Opens Special Spring Skiing Memorial Weekend

Schweitzer Basin announces a special spring opening May 25 and 26 from 7 to 12 with about four feet of snow. Season tickets won t be honored, chairlift one at 3 dollars, ski shop and rental gear available, cafeteria closed.

Sandpoint police continued probing a Friday afternoon bomb threat at the Junior High School. No arrests were made as chief George Elliot noted a youthful callerides phoned the threat before 3 pm.
