Open Burning Regulation Meeting Set in Idaho

Public meeting to discuss state wide open burning rules will be held Thursday in Coeur d Alene at the Elks Temple at 9 a.m. Administrative Director Al Eiguren chairs the session with formal testimony possible for the Boise hearing on June 8.

Coroner's Jury Rules Death Accidental in Idaho Crash

A six member coroner's jury ruled the death of Clarence L. Sheffler accidental. The inquest in Bonner County heard that Sheffler, 17, of Priest River, died after two vehicle crashes on U. S. 2 near Thama Rocks. Witnesses cited poor visibility, dust and glare from headlights as factors.

Stubborn Blaze Fought Sunday by Local Fire Teams

The Northside Fire Association fought a forest fire Sunday after winds drove a slash burn across Bob Lyons property into state forestry land. State crews with a tanker and men joined three hours of fighting. The blaze burned four to five acres with local and state responders mop up by 3:00 p.m. Neighbors and NFA members assisted after starting on Jerry White’s property at the northwest corner of NFA territory.
