K and K Day Crowned by Lake Pend Oreille Catch
Martha Taylor of Sandpoint netted the 26 lb 8 oz kamloops rainbow trout the largest fish in K and K Week on Lake Pend Oreille. J Johnson of Sandpoint won the grand prize building lot on Granite Creek for a near perfect weight guess. Ward Rohrbach of Spokane received second prize options. Selkirk Stationery led the window contest with Crystal Butterfly Alpine Saw Shop and Sandpoint Furniture also winning. Fred Goetz caught the largest game fish 13 lb 2 oz while Bud Moon earned the Dell Willard Memorial Award for hosting the winner. A KXLY film will air tonight with a feature later this week.

Missing Clark Fork man sparks sheriff search
Bonner County Sheriff Robert Wilcox and four deputies search for Arnold Klub, 74 or 75, reported missing Sunday from Johnson Creek area. He left about 8 a.m. and was last seen near his vehicle found one mile up. Bloodhounds aided the effort.

Bear hunt gun misfire wounds Dover man
Sandpoint physician Dr. Fred Marienau told Sheriff Robert Wilcox over the weekend that he treated John R. Meredith of Dover for a gunshot injury. Meredith said he was cleaning a .22 rifle when it accidentally discharged.

Police Seek Reserve Help recruitment by Sandpoint Police Department
Sandpoint Police Department opens applications for reserve patrolmen. Chief Dick Abbott says six reserves will be added now with future expansion. Applicants aged 19 to 40 in good health with a high school diploma or GED and no criminal record are eligible. Uniforms provided. individuals must supply a side arm. Training sessions will be held and rules available at the police station.

Anglers Rescued After Boat Overturns On Lake Pend Oreille
Two Sandpoint anglers were rescued when their 15 foot fiberglass boat capsized 500 yards east of Indian Point on Lake Pend Oreille. The boat owner Eugene Mansky and passenger Lawrence Stripe were aided by Coeur d Alene fishermen and Bonner County Sheriff Boat. The craft's windshield and motor were damaged and gear lost.
