WWP Seeks Electric Rate Surcharge In Pacific Northwest

Washington Water Power Company files surcharge requests with Washington and Idaho regulators to offset drought driven power costs. The plan targets 2.1 mills per kWh in Washington and 1.4 mills per kWh in Idaho, raising the 1000 kWh monthly bill about 10 dollars and about 1.40 dollars in Idaho.

North Idaho chamber meeting highlights drought and growth

Northern Idaho chamber vice presidents from eleven counties opened the spring conference warning drought threatens energy farming and industry while tourism and housing show modest gains. Salmon reports 30 percent salmon river flow and water rationing as irrigation relies on limited water. Founders Day Brunch Honors Beta Sigma Phi Girls of the Year

About 50 women attended the Founders Day brunch at Sandpoints Edgewater Inn to honor the sorority Beta Sigma Phi. Christy Remmers, Marilyn Lee, Helen Hagadone, Faye Reise, and Dorothy Larson were named girl of the year for their respective chapters while past city council presidents Christy Remmers, Sherry Metz, and Dessie Marienau were recognized. New officers for each chapter were introduced.

Local Motorists Face Week of Accidents in Bonner County

Bonner County residents report a week of traffic incidents. A pedestrian near Third and Pine Streets was struck as a vehicle failed to yield. Donna Ann Brewer, 17, of Sandpoint, was involved in a separate 10 p.m. crash. Belgrade’s head and leg injuries sent to Bonner General Hospital after a street crossing incident.

Elks Golf Club burglary reported in Sandpoint

Sandpoint sheriffs deputies said unknown suspects burglarized the Elks Golf Club during Wednesday night. A spokesman cited theft of two six packs of beer nine or ten fifths of whiskey and cigarettes. No golf equipment was stolen.

Stolen 1973 Chevy Pickup Reported By Bonner County Resident

Richard G. Ahlers told the Bonner County Sheriff's Office on Thursday that his green and white 1973 Chevrolet pickup was taken from his home earlier in the day. Deputies are investigating the theft.
