Beta chapters raise funds at Sandpoint auction

Beta Sigma Phi chapters in Bonner County raised 963 dollars at the Do What You Do Best Auction at Sandpoint Community Hall. Members made items such as baked goods plants paintings wood carvings and crafts to support the annual $0 scholarship presented on Class Day at Sandpoint Senior High. Dessie Marienau served as auctioneer and Teresa Deshon chaired the event.

Hayes Exhibits Art at Spokane Show at Davenport Hotel

Sandpoint artist Eugene Hayes joins hundreds of Northwest artists at the Davenport Hotel in Spokane for the second annual Spokane Allied Artists show. Hayes exhibits about 20 works including oils watercolors prints and pencil drawings with a Saturday 7 30 pm art auction in the Marie Antoinette Room and two oil paintings bid. The show runs Friday 10 am to 10 pm Saturday 10 am to 10 pm and Sunday 10 am to 6 pm admission is free. Hayes and wife attended last year’s event at the Spokane Armory and expect this year to be better at the Davenport.

Trucker Injured In Highway Mishap Near Laclede

A Louisiana Pacific logging truck driver Tim Tope of Athol was forced off U.S. 2 near Laclede to avoid two cars. He sustained minor injuries and was taken to Bonner General Hospital by sheriff's vehicle. Damage estimate unavailable.

Pickup Ditches Near Dover Injures Alberta Man

David S. Sheppard, 23, of Nisfail Alberta, fell asleep at the wheel on U.S. 2 east toward Sandpoint and veered into a ditch one mile west of Dover at about 4 15 a m. He suffered a broken nose and bruises, received stitches, a passenger was uninjured, vehicle damage was about 1300, and he was not cited.
