Trash overflow at Dufort Road drop site sparks complaints

Burt Saunders and Commissioner Jim Brockway visited the Highway 95 and Dufort Road trash drop eight miles south of Sandpoint to report debris spreading over private land. They described daily spring overflow, proposed snow fencing, and increased emptying to three times weekly while seeking funding for more cans.

Reward Offered For Kamloops Trout Theft At Eagles Lodge

Kamloops prized trout valued at 70 dollars and weighing 24 pounds 2 ounces was stolen from the Eagles Lodge display freezer between 12 30 am and 12 45 am Sunday. A 100 dollar reward is offered for information leading to its return. The fish was entered in a 1000 dollar derby and remains eligible for prize if largest Kamloops weighed that week.

Two Charged With Drug Possession in Bonner County

Bonner County deputies arrest Archie Gollen and Carol Wilson on sale of marijuana and felony possession after a search of a house on Shingle Mill Road yielded three and a half to four pounds of cannabis. Both posted $500 bond and face arraignment today. Also in regional fisheries news Idaho enforces a no fishing rule on the Snake River and tributaries with Chinook salmon quota discussions underway at Ice Harbor Dam.

Driver Unhurt In Gravel Truck Roll Over West of Sandpoint

A gravel truck driven by Wayne D Clements on the Dover Highway near Sandpoint rolled into a ditch after a right front tire burst. The driver was uninjured, about $1,000 damage reported. A separate incident west of Clark Fork involved a non stopping vehicle strike on Pete Thompson's car. Theresa Hendrickson later treated and released at Banner General Hospital.
