Communists Press Toward Hue as Saigon Front Advances
North Vietnamese tanks and infantry surged toward Hue after breaking through new defense lines near the Quang Tri Thua Thien border. UPI reports say My Chanh and Bastogne bases were contested while 2,000 American troops at Phu Bai were kept on yellow alert. Hue, already crowded with refugees, faced renewed pressure as government forces slowed the advance.
