Elephant Leads 20 Mile Chase Through Australian Rural Roads
A frightened three ton circus elephant named Gigi broke its leg chain and fled from a slow moving truck in Adelaide Australia leading police and locals on a four hour chase covering about 20 miles. Gigi’s mother Abu and sister Kilda were guided to a creek by trainer Stefan Krajick as a dynamite blast from a nearby mine spooked the animal again. After an hour Gigi was shackled with a thick chain and the trio were fed cabbages and hay and cooled with a lake swim before the elephant calmed enough to resume the journey.
