Billboards Come Down in Idaho Under State Plan
About 1,800 billboards have been removed from Idaho’s highway system since last August under a plan led by Secretary John Volpe and Governor Cecil Andrus. Most removals were small signs, with larger ones pending. Of roughly 8,600 off premises signs in 1971, 5,850 were non conforming and about 35 percent remain to be removed, many owned by commercial outdoor advertisers. Owners of pre 1965 non conforming signs will be reimbursed for removal costs.

Park Managers Undergo Training
Twenty one state park managers and technicians begin two weeks of law enforcement training in Idaho to be deputized by county sheriffs. State parks director Steven Bly said the program aims to speed responses where park violations occur and deputies may be required to assist.
