City Hikes Water Rates For Ten Year Repair Plan

The county had paid $250 monthly under a prior contract now expired, with oral renewal at $325. In 1969 the county paid $3,900 while regular charges would have been about $1,500. On December 29, 1969, Sandpoint demanded $400 monthly and would not treat county calls the same as public calls. The board rejected the higher rate, noting not the service quality but the cost. A February 25, 1970 call was not answered. The commissioners seek a solution while affirming indigents’ right to public ambulance service.
