Bonner County Names Cancer Society Chair and Officers
Mrs Harlan Walker of Sandpoint becomes Bonner County Chairman for the Idaho Division of the American Cancer Society. The unit bids welcome new officers including Mrs Dam Deshon as Co Chairwoman and Dr Theodore Alm as District Medical Director. The April Crusade kicks off to fund research education and services with Idaho contributing 25 cents of every dollar raised to research.

Local Winners Dominate Silver Gloves in Cheney
Chester Schilling and Dick Gance led Sandpoint Boxing Club at the Silver Gloves in Cheney Washington last Saturday winning two divisions. Brad Bleckwenn fought hard but lost a close decision in the 112 pounds final. Dick Gance remained undefeated after two bouts and a final decision over Lorne Carey. The Sandpoint squad plans a Cranbrook B C card Sunday and aims for an April 4 amateur event in Sandpoint.

Walt Cox 48 Idaho State Patrol officer killed by a Burlington Northern freight train on the Idaho Washington line at 8 51 am He died of head and internal injuries at Valley General Hospital in Spokane Cox stationed in Bonner County for about four years Survived by wife and three children Sheriff Wilcox and deputies attended from Sandpoint area.
