In Bogota Colombia Avianca Airlines reports a Boeing 727 hijacked en route from Cucuta to Bogota. Hijackers forced landing in Bogota to refuel for Havana. It marks the 20th Western Hemisphere hijacking this year and the second Avianca craft hijacked in under a month.

Timber bids posted on two Kaniksu forest sales
Clark Fork Logging of Thompson Falls Montana was high bidder on the Elk Flats sale ten miles west of Noxon. The Kaniksu NF auction raised appraised value from 60804.90 to 60807.10 for 2200 MBF of sawlogs with Pack River Co as sole other bidder. Plumlee and Foust of Bonners Ferry Idaho topped the A Road Pulp sale west of Bonners Ferry, for 461 MBF sawlogs and 894 MBF pulp logs, raising value from 2825.75 to 9000.00. Plaid & Son and Patrick Doyle were other bidders.
