Bonner County planning panel acts on plats amid dispute

The Bonner County Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed River Lake Estates and Capehorn Estates plats while Sagle developer Ray Raineri alleged discrimination after a third denial and Army Corps of Engineers report delay. Final approvals went to a 40 unit mobile home park and to Capehorn Estates with 110 lots. others were denied or tabled.

Boise governor Cecil D. Andrus said he expects no problems from the planned Fourth of July weekend at Farragut State Park. He noted the sponsoring organization Universal Life Church has been scrutinized and emphasized the state’s interest in proper fire sanitation and health facilities equal to those for Boy Scouts or others.

Nixon Calls Cutoff for Bad Nursing Homes in Medicare Talks

President Nixon urged halting federal Medicare and Medicaid payments to substandard nursing homes calling them dumping grounds for the dying. He spoke at a National Retired Teachers Association American Association of Retired Persons convention in Chicago, urging a new attitude toward old age and closer ties with older citizens. Mayor Daley welcomed him as a band played on Michigan Avenue after the speech.

Garfield Water District hearing set for July 6

A public hearing is scheduled for July 6 at 9 30 a m in the Bonner County Courthouse to hear objections to forming a Garfield Bay water sewer district. Judge H Watt Prather signed the order for the hearing following a resident petition surrounding the bay area. Sandpoint weather anticipates showers today and tonight with gusty winds and a slight warm up on Saturday.

July Fourth Kickoff Set For Sandpoint Lions Event

On Saturday June 26 the Sands Point Lions Club will host the Kangaroo Court and the official kickoff for Sandpoint’s 4th of July celebration. Activities run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at First and Main with police cooperation and parking enforcement handed to the Red Vested Lions.
