Slain Chief Perkins Autopsy Pending In Idaho Shootout

McCall Idaho Police Chief James D. Perkins, 47, was killed in a high speed chase and shootout with state police and county deputies along Highway 55. An autopsy in Cascade is complete but findings await further tests. Perkins fired on officers before being shot down after a 25 mile pursuit ending in Grand Junction Stavast truck collision.

DECS Board Sets Priest Lake Meeting Dates

Idaho officials announce the State Board of Environmental and Community Services will meet June 20 and 21 at Priest Lake. Actions include water quality standard changes for water below the proposed American Falls dam and updates to pool and sewer grant rules, air plan revisions, and five industry compliance schedules. Burglary Report Hits Multiple Cabins in Idaho Neighborhood

Bonner County deputies received a Saturday report of a cabin burglary on Cocolalla Loop Road and found two more cabins hit. Screens were cut and windows broken in the first, with only a bottle of alcohol reportedly taken. Damage to the others is unknown as owners remain sought.

Sandpoint Bypass Plan Stalled Over Historic Depot

The proposed Highway 95 bypass through Sandpoint sits on hold after Burlington Northern’s 1920s depot was placed on the national historic register. Idaho Officers Capture Escapee In Spokane River

Carl Cletus Bowles 33, sought for a month after escaping Oregon State Penitentiary, was shot and arrested while kneeling in the Spokane River near Coeur d Alene Idaho. He was listed in critical but stable condition at Kootenai Memorial Hospital after an off duty officer wounded him above the belt during a lengthy chase. Bowles, serving a life term for murder, fled May 17 on an unsupervised pass. authorities linked his escape to a string of crimes across three states.
