Nineteen File Candidacy Petitions For Idaho Offices

Nineteen people filed petitions with the Idaho secretary of state for public office including incumbent State Treasurer Marjorie Ruth Moon seeking a fourth term and former Congressman Compton I. Miss Dewey Heads to Miss Idaho Pageant for 1973

Claudia Dewey Miss Sandpoint 1973 will travel June 11 to Boise to compete with 15 contestants for Miss Idaho. The pageant runs June 13 to 15 with a luncheon on the final day. Supported by Sandpoint Junior Women's Club and sponsors J C Penney Co. and Co. She receives a $75 bond, travel, and entry fees. this marks the last Sandpoint entrant as the Junior Miss Pageant will replace the position. Dewey stays at the Down Towner during her Boise visit.

Seven vie for District 3 commissioner seat

Four more candidates joined District 3 races yesterday bringing total to seven. Democrats Ernest Dale Jef Fres and Kenneth Holt along with Republicans Dwight Crowell and Dustin Bloom filed. District 2 incumbent Harold Anselmo filed for re election and is unopposed with three days left. Precinct committeeman filings also noted and deadline set for 5 pm June 7.

Mail Bomb Kills District Judge in Washington

A heavy envelope bomb delivered to Franklin County Courthouse in Pasco exploded in the chambers of Judge James Lawless, killing him seconds after a colleague left. Judge Al Yencopal described Lawless as a close friend. the package was addressed to him at the Prosser courthouse.

Construction Workers Strike In South Idaho

About 5 000 to 6 000 workers across southern Idaho walked out after failing to reach a new contract with Associated General Contractors. The five crafts halted projects including dams and bridges, with $100 million in work idled and houses under construction continuing in Boise.
