Bonner County approves cut off road to Schweitzer traffic
Bonner County plans a state financed two lane road to cut off heavy skier traffic from Boyer Avenue to Schweitzer Basin. A 30 foot bridge over Sand Creek will be built as part of the project which aims to relieve congestion and should be completed this summer. James Brockway says the new route will use county manpower and equipment and follow land acquisitions. Schweitzer manager Sam Wormington notes the present route carried about 60 000 vehicles last year to the ski area north of Sandpoint. The project lies in District three under Commissioner Jack Popplewell.
