The northern Idaho opening weekend of stream fishing brought a mix of results. Some waters like Deep Creek and Spirit Lake produced good catches of brook trout, kokanee, and rainbow, while others such as the Moyie were high and off color with few anglers.

The Intelligence Evaluation Committee set up three years ago to oversee domestic intelligence gathering has been abolished by the Justice Department. Nixon announced the SEC’s dissolution, saying activities are under Senate Watergate review and no illegal activity by the SEC is acknowledged. The SEC included FBI, Secret Service, Defense Intelligence Agency, NSA, CIA, and two DOJ lawyers.

Judge Suppresses Wiretap Evidence in Gambling Case
U S District Judge William Mehrtens barred wiretap evidence against accused gamblers, citing illegal procedures during court permission under former Attorney General John Mitchell. Boise Man Appointed to Idaho Criminal Justice Task Force
Robert V. Hansberger, a Boise businessman, was named chairman of Idaho's Task Force on Criminal Justice Standards and Goals. Attorney General W. Anthony Park announced the appointment, noting the task force will operate under the Law Enforcement Planning Commission for Idaho. Sub task forces will be formed to study national standards and their applicability.
