Lewiston Fire Destroys Three Businesses in $1 Million Blaze
Fire crews battled a Saturday blaze in Lewiston that destroyed Hughes Dress Shop, the Smoke Shop Restaurant, and Klings Stationery Store. The fire caused heavy smoke and water damage to two neighboring businesses across the street from the Old Ellids Club site. No injuries were reported. About 45 firefighters from Lewiston and nearby departments fought the four hour blaze, which began in a basement area and leaped into flames over 100 feet high.
