No Buffalo For Red Man at AIM Conference

About 500 to 600 members of the American Indian Movement gathered at White Oak Oklahoma for a conference and to draft a "Tomahawk statement" while seeking buffalo donations from a private ranch. AIM anticipated larger crowds by Monday, but attendance remained around five to six hundred. The group tried to secure government food subsidies for camp children, which federal officials blocked for not meeting prerequisites. The buffalo ranch owner offered a reward for theft or shooting of buffalo after the protest request failed.
