Idaho Highways reports the Thama Rocks road project is 65 percent done with excavation work near completion. By mid August the by-pass detour will remain for limited traffic while school buses plan to use the area in September. Concrete guardrails will later become a permanent barrier.

WSU Student Shot In Dormitory In Spokane
18 year old Everett freshman Des Jardien remained in fair condition at Sacred Heart Hospital after being shot in the back in his Washington State University dorm room. Spokane roommate Steven Estringer was questioned as investigators continued the inquiry and no charges were filed yet.

A Sandpoint man received a citation for failure to obey a stop sign after a two car crash at the Boyer Avenue and Main Street intersection at 12 45 p m Wednesday. Grace E Johnson and Ivan E Smith, Sandpoint residents, were involved and damage was listed as unknown.

Two From Area To Get Degree At EWSC Summer Commencement
Denice K. Strohmaier of Sandpoint is a candidate for a bachelor of arts in education to be awarded at summer quarter exercises in Woodward Stadium on Friday August 7 at 7 p.m. She is a music major and the daughter of Mr and Mrs William H Lutzke of Sandpoint. Moose Sighted Near Town Amid Creeks Crossing
A moose was seen at dusk crossing a field and entering Syringa Creek near the J. R. McFarland residence. Hal Reese reported the animal feeding and crossing the highway before entering the creek. Moose sightings are rare in this area and Idaho protects moose along with other Northwest states.
