Countersuits Filed In Air Collision Over Boise

Widows of six who died in a July 30 1969 mid air collision in Boise file countersuits in Fourth District Court. Lorna C Clapin sues Beverly B Nancock Frank Flanery estate and others for 800000 alleging negligence and violation of federal flight rules. Virginia Flanery sues Boise Aviation and the Boise Chamber of Commerce for 350000 claiming Clapin acted as Boise Aviation agent and a flight plan was needed to avoid congestion after a fly in breakfast. Additional suits include a 1 million claim by Donald J Ruzicka's widow and a 700000 claim by Louise C Smith husband Eugene Smith was a passenger with Clapin.

Idaho Governor Warns Rail Strike Hurts State Industry

Governor Cecil D. Andrus sent a telegram to Transportation Secretary Volpe warning the Idaho economy faces nonrecoverable losses if the rail strike continues. He cited curtailed operations at Hoff Lumber and Boise Cascade and threatened impact on northern Idaho grain farmers.

Five Arrested For Drugs In Caldwell Case

CALDWELL UPD notes five persons arrested for drug violations within a week of the Narcotics Control Division going into action. Richard Appleton, division director, said more warrants and arrests are expected. Suspects include Donald Duncan, 25, of Nampa, for unlawful delivery of a narcotic and Ronald Cloud, 19, of Nampa, for unlawful sale of marijuana, plus three juveniles charged with unlawful sales.

Forester Pierce Transferred Within National Forest System

James D. Pierce, head of the St. Maries Personnel Section on the St. Joe National Forest, is transferred to the Kaniksu National Forest. He will report July 26 as Personnel Section Head. Pierce has a military background with the U.S. Marines and a varied forestry career across Plumas Six Rivers Sequoia forests. He is married with one son, Patrick.

Car Crash Claims Two Idaho Men

Two Idaho residents were killed in a head on collision on U S Highway 2 near Columbia Falls Montana. Hank Mohland 39 Lewiston Idaho and a 36 year old Idaho manIdentified to be notified of next of kin died in the crash. Mrs Mohland and the couple’s two children were hospitalized in Missoula. Investigating officers said the unidentified man swerved across the centerline and struck the Mohland car head on.
