Planning Commission Discusses Procedures and Roads

Bonner County Planning and Zoning Commission debated road requirements for two subdivision proposals at a Thursday meeting. County Commissioner Jin Brockway urged adherence to the agenda and Powers’ guidance while the North Bay addition and Happy Valley Ranch projects moved toward final approval pending public road construction, county specs, and health district clearance.

Fund Audit Value Questioned by Idaho Panel

In Moscow Idaho members of the Legislative Budget Fiscal Committee questioned the General Fund status audit for 1971-72. The audit suggested the June 30 deficit could drop from 2.4 million to 1.8 million with unrecorded revenues and improper encumbrances.

No Cap No Swim Cape Horn Resort Destroyed By Fire

A fire at the Cape Horn Resort on Lake Pend Oreille destroyed the log cabin complex after 2 15 a m on Wednesday. Losses totaled 80000 in property 12000 in merchandise and 1500 in cash. The U S Naval facility crew aided volunteers and the fire ended by 5 a m. The resort owned by Cape Horn Properties Inc had been leased to Mrs Lou Cummings who was in Canada. The fire was reported by her son Laurie Cummings 25. The structure dated to 1942 with additions in 1960 and 1969.

Colleges To Get Grants From Congress Announcement

Idaho institutions including Idaho State University Boise State College Lewis and Clark College North Idaho College and the University of Idaho will receive Law Enforcement Education program grants totaling 93,700. The funds, awarded by the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, fund grants and loans for students.
