Armed men free suspect in Bonner County jail break
Early today two gunmen dressed like pioneers broke into the Bonner County jail, freed a 29 year old man awaiting extradition to California for burglary, and fled as a dispatcher was forced at gunpoint. An NCIC alert widened the search for Steven A. Alexander Jesse R. O'Donnelly and William L. Are amid air and ground hunts.

Ehrlichman Perjury Conviction Dropped by Judge Gesell
UPI Washington Judge Gerhard Gesell voided one perjury conviction against John Ehrlichman ruling the federal lie to the FBI statute was not properly invoked and ordered acquittal. Ehrlichman still faces up to 20 years and $30,000 in fines for remaining counts. co-defendants Liddy Barker Martinez also convicted of conspiracy with sentencing set July 31.

Hofmeister homicide ruling shocks Bonner County
A coroner ruled June Darlene Hofmeister died by strangulation, not a car accident, after an autopsy. The 41 year old wife of attorney Everett Hofmeister was found dead in a pickup wreck on Schweitzer cutoff road near Sandpoint. Investigators from the state department of law enforcement and local sheriffs work the case as four state investigators and deputies pursue leads. Funeral services were held in Sandpoint.

Ex-Resident Norris Schwinn among plane crash victims in Alaska
Ex Sandpoint resident Norris Schwinn a Tesoro Petroleum supervisor and four others died when a twin engine plane crashed into a mountain near Cordova Alaska last Thursday night.
