Geothermal by 1977 Predicted by Idaho Official
Dr. Robert Brugger of Aero Jet Nuclear told the Idaho State Land Board a net water generated electric plant could be built in the Raft River Valley by 1977. He requested withdrawal of 6,400 acres from private geothermal development as federal and state agencies fund a potential project with $2 million yearly from the next four to five years and a possible $16 to $25 million construction line item in 1976.

An autopsy was ordered by County Coroner Dale Coffelt in Coeur d'Alene for June Hofmeister who died early Tuesday. She was found inside an overturned vehicle down an embankment on the Schweitzer cutoff road north of town.

Lions Beach Benefit Barbecue Returns to Sandpoint Beach
The Lions Club Sandpoint hosts a Beach Benefit Barbecue on Sunday July 28 at Sandpoint City Beach with skydiving water jumps by Spokane Sport Parachute Club and events including water contests horseshoe toss Air National Guard show band bingo and reunion tables. Argentine-born archer stalks pigeons in London park
Juan Henshore, born in Argentina, admitted stalking pigeons in Green Park London with a bow and arrows to halt disease and mess in Trafalgar Square. Sandpoint Man Arrested On Extortion Try
Harry E. Wesselman Jr an 18 year old from Sandpoint was held in Yamhill County jail on a charge of attempted extortion after threatening a Newberg businessman's family. He allegedly demanded 50000 dollars to drop off outside town. Police traced the call with the help of the businessman and arrested him during a follow up call.
