Sheriff Candidates Forum Planned in Sandpoint
Tomorrow night the Daily Bee hosts a public forum at Sandpoint Community Hall for five sheriff candidates, led by moderator Steve Klatt. Candidates will present backgrounds and views at 7 30 and answer media questions, then address the audience at 8 30 with a 60 minute Q A session concluding by 9 30. The slate includes Democrats Eddy Guthrie Schade Hare and Republican Lex Harper with further forums scheduled for county commissioner candidates next Thursday.

Priest River gears up for its Loggers Celebration on July 17 and 18 with a B and O Shows carnival Thursday and Friday. The event features a Little Loggers Parade at 10 15 a m and Grand Loggers Parade at 11 a m followed by logging gear on display and an auction. Activities include penny toss wheelbarrow races pie eating and a firemen water fight with a fireworks finale over the Pend Oreille River. Sunday offers raft races lumberjack events and prize drawings including a 10 inch color TV and bicycles.

Butler Hospitalized After Auto Rollover Near Hope
Lillian Butler, 85, of Hope, was reported in satisfactory condition at Bonner General Hospital after a one car rollover on Highway 200 yesterday. Deputy Jerry Hatch said Butler over corrected near Hope around 1 15 p m, causing the Opel Cadet to flip. She was trapped with head lacerations for about 30 minutes. Fred Hartman of Hartman Ambulance aided, then moved her on a board to exit via the back window.
