Idaho reduces government to 18 departments in reorg
New laws take effect in Idaho as executive branch reorganization scales to 18 departments among 325 measures. Pay raises total 2.6 million dollars for state workers and officials including judges and prosecutors. stricter penalties for shoplifting and marijuana. parents liable for minors in shoplifting cases. marijuana possession over three ounces becomes a felony with up to five years or 5,000 dollars. Banks gain higher interest ceiling up to 18 percent. Tax relief and liquor surcharge cut to 5.5 percent also take effect.

June tourism doubles in Sandpoint report
