Sandpoint Airport Sees Two Lady Flyers Under Currier

Betty Moon of Sandpoint became Currier's first lady soloist yesterday completing a 30 minute flight over the Sandpoint area. Today Toni D Orazio joined Moon as a second soloist after 7 1/2 hours of instruction. Currier expanded his services with a new Cessna 182 four place monoplane available for charter and instruction as spring brings more interest in flying.

Weather outlook Sandpoint Idaho through Tuesday

Mostly cloudy through Saturday with scattered showers this weekend and a 20 percent chance of rain today and 30 percent tonight and Saturday. Temperatures range from highs in the mid 40s to lows around 35 with a cooler Saturday. The Northern Idaho outlook calls for occasional rain or snow showers and mild highs in the 40s with 30s overnight through Tuesday.

Man Dies After Refusing Help

Jess Campbell, an elderly Priest River resident, died at Newport Hospital after being taken there by Priest River ambulance. Police say Campbell had been ill about a week and refused medical attention, talking to officers at his door but not allowing entry until his Spokane nephew granted permission for hospitalization. He likely suffered from a kidney ailment.

Nixon budget proposes private build lease for Idaho offices

The Nixon administration plans private developers to build two Idaho federal buildings for lease to the government. Moscow Post Office and Courthouse and Sandpoint federal office building are in the FY 1972 budget, with work possible by June 30, 1972, under a nationwide 45 building lease program on government land.

Baby Dies In Crib Brings North Idaho Search For Mother

Frantic calls between Priest River and Sandpoint followed a young mother claiming her baby was dead. Maraud Connolly helped transport infant Dwayne Harold Munds to Newport Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Authorities list the death as crib death with a prior respiratory infection. grandparents are Sophie Shreve and Mr and Mrs Dwayne Munds.

Second Man Held in Rape Case In Bonner County

Bonner County Sheriff Robert Wilcox announced the arrest of Gail Grogan 25 in the federal warrant sweep following an alleged rape of a Kootenai County woman last Sunday. Grogan joined Arnold Bakie already arrested Tuesday on the same charge for taking the woman to a lonely road between Newport Washington and Spirit Lake and assaulting her before driving her home. The victim reported the incident Monday morning prompting warrants. Federal Marshal Merle Clary of Spirit Lake arrested Grogan yesterday after an all points bulletin.
