Moon Passes Away Here Today

Lawrence G Moon II known as Pike dies at 74 at home in Sandpoint Idaho funeral services set for Saturday January 29 at 2 pm in Moon Chapel officiated by Charles Wigton burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park He was born July 4 1887 in Stanley Wisconsin came to Sandpoint in 1907 worked at Brower Mortuary while in high school licensed embalmer in Idaho Washington and Montana married Hazel Rice in 1920 built Pinecrest Cemetery and ran the local funeral home until 1957 active in Presbyterian Church Idaho Funeral Service Association Eagles Lodge Bonner County Republican Central Committee and Idaho Farm Bureau survived by his wife.

Missing Boys Safe After Three Day California Trip

Dave Green and Ricky Dale Snipes, both 15 and Sandpoint Junior High students, were last seen Monday crossing a bridge south of Sandpoint. They spent three days traveling through Spokane and Coeur d Alene toward California before returning home with their father notifying police Wednesday.

Roads Open as Schools Plan Return After Western Blizzard

A western blizzard with subzero temperatures kept eastern Washington northern Idaho and western Montana in ice causing county crews to clear roads. District 82 schools closed three days with buses set to resume Friday if weather holds and secondary roads reopen.

Burlington Northern Plans 30 Million Hauser Yard Near Spokane

Burlington Northern announced a 30 million dollar electronic freight classification yard to be built 20 miles east of Portland at Hauser Idaho near the Idaho Washington line. Construction starts by late summer with completion expected in 1975 shaping faster operations and better car utilization for customers.

Hauser Yard Boosts Northwest Freight Movement

Burlington Northern announces a $30 million electronic classification yard in Hauser near Spokane, elevating Spokane area importance for BN operations across Oregon and Northern California. The project plus related $14 million bridge work and $4.5 million line connections expand cross line traffic among Great Northern, Northern Pacific, and Spokane Portland and Seattle, while existing yards in Pasco and Portland regions continue to grow.
