Gasoline Spill From Double Tanker Crash in City

A double tanker truck carrying 7700 gallons of gasoline slid on snow at First Avenue and Superior Street, rupturing a gas line and spilling 3500 gallons into the storm drain. No injuries or citations were reported, but residents were warned to check for gasoline odors. The Arrow Transportation Co. truck was en route to local stations from Spokane.

Fair Board Elects New Officers Here

Bonner County Fair Board elects officers for the year with Bob Wood as Chairman Leora Bandy as Vice Chair Frank Cochrane as Treasurer and Raynold Davis as Secretary Other board members include Leitoi Allen Bill O'Brien and Harold Anselmo New member Jack Murray from Sandpoint joins the board.

Check Alert System Adopted by Sandpoint Merchants

At a Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce meeting the Retail Merchants Committee announced a Check Alert system for shops. Merchants must give ten days written notice to bad check writers before pursuing action, who then have 30 days to cover the amount. Holidays and mail delays may hinder delivery of notices.
