James Rhodes 26 was arrested in Sandpoint on assault charges after allegedly beating his mother Nita Rhodes and locking her in a house. Officers found a hypodermic needle, homemade syringe, and pill bottle containing amphetamines and barbiturates on Rhodes during booking.

Sagle Youth Killed In Logging Accident
Donald A. Gollen, 20, of Sagle, was fatally injured when a tree fell on him at a logging site near Granite Lake in Bonner County. His father and brother, Archie, witnessed the accident as the crew freed him and he died of head injuries at Bonner General Hospital. Funeral arrangements were at Moon Funeral Home in Sandpoint.
