Northern Idaho Hit by Wet Heavy Snow Storm

A fast moving storm dumped over eight inches of wet snow across northern Idaho causing major damage in a three state area. Crews from Northern Lights, Inc. and Pacific Power and Light worked through the night to repair downed lines while schools closed in Boundary and Bonner counties and service aimed to be restored by noon or nightfall.

Mrs. Kelberg to Lead 1970 Sandpoint Heart Fund Drive

Mrs Dennis Kelberg, vice president of Jay C-Ettes, named campaign chairman for the February Heart Fund drive in Sandpoint. The Bonner County Heart Association aims to raise 1200 for local research education and community services with Jay C-Ettes President Mrs Bill Hiatt as vice chair. Volunteers begin visiting neighbors February 15 to solicit contributions and share heart health material.

The Idaho Fish and Game Commission will set opening dates for most big game hunting seas at its regular quarterly meeting at 1 30 p m Wednesday. The plan helps sportsmen schedule hunting vacations in advance as officials noted.

Moscow Group Opposes Time Zone Change

The Moscow Chamber of Commerce endorsed a retail committee's recommendation opposing a bill to place northern Idaho entirely in Mountain Standard Time. President Tom Neal said the change would keep Moscow in sync with Pullman Washington and avoid longer winter hours for local stores.
