Arvid Anderson, 23, of Sandpoint, is listed in critical condition at Sacred Heart Medical Center Spokane with head injuries after his pickup rolled three times on Schweitzer Basin Road. The crash occurred around 12:50 a.m. Saturday when the truck skidded on ice and was ejected onto the roadway.

Edward L. Campbell, 24, of 924 Ruth Ave, may be retried in First District Court on three counts of forgery after a hung jury in his prior trial. Prosecutor Gary Finney expects a new trial. Judge Dar Cogswell had not set a date as of Wednesday morning. Campbell, a former Sandpoint police officer, previously turned himself in August 11, 1976, and was released on recognizance. He allegedly forged three Auto Haus checks tied to a July 15 Lake Plaza Building burglary, which he says he signed at home at a juvenile’s request but told the youth to destroy the checks.

A wooden water pipe burst on Main St near Ruth Ave causing a six by six foot hole that swallowed a city truck. Flood water surrounded homes on Ruth Ave while no houses were flooded this time. a previous break last year flooded Allan Critchell’s home and led to motel and meal costs plus $1,500 in damages.
