Drugs Seized in Sandpoint Area Trailer Bust

Bonner County sheriffs seized over eight pounds of suspected marijuana from a trailer in the Sandpoint area at 9 pm Saturday. Arrested on possession charges were Jesse J. Warner Curt Van Etten both of Bonners Ferry and Honda Lee Tope of Athol. Bond will be set today.

Driver Injured In Schweitzer Basin Road Rollover

A 23 year old Sandpoint man Arvid Andersen was seriously injured when his pickup rolled over three times on Schweitzer Basin Road while driving east around 12 50 am. He was ejected onto the roadway and admitted in serious condition to Sacred Heart Medical Center Spokane with head injuries.

Saturday report says Jim Tallman of the Teen Lodge in Clark Fork found his office broken into Friday night. He could not confirm what, if anything, was missing.

Sandpoint Man Arrested for DUI Court-Order Violation

Ivan E. Lord of 519 Church St. was arrested Saturday for failing to obey a court order in a DUI case and released on recognizance. A Sandpoint juvenile was also arrested Saturday on burglary charges.

Stolen Purse Reported By Sandpoint Hospital Janitor

Leanna C. White a janitor at Bonner General Hospital in Sandpoint reported a purse stolen from a basement locker on Friday night. The bag contained $160 according to White.

Three Arrested In Bonner County Robbery Case

Three suspects Patricia E Edwins Gary C Eicher and Kent L Olsen were arrested after the Saturday robbery and assault of Tom Paylor 22 of Edwall Washington in the Kelso Lake area. They face burglary grand theft auto two counts of armed robbery and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Bond set at 10000 each. Exchanging sheriff cooperation noted.

Damages Sought In Suit Over 1976 Logging Contract

First District Court civil action filed Friday seeks more than $20,000 in damages from Dick D. Andersen in relation to a 1976 logging contract with Star Cedar Company. The Starlings claim Andersen failed to pay for equipment, deliver cedar logs, or insure the leased truck and trailer. A separate suit by Melvin and Josephine Hanson seeks $4,056.40 from Orville Eller for unpaid crane lease.

Chase Ends in Arrest After Sandpoint High Speed Chase

A 15 year old juvenile was arrested Saturday at 10 30 after a high speed chase through Sandpoint. Suspect is accused of stealing a car owned by L A Crosswhite and driving about 80 mph with no headlights. The chase ended on N Division St near the Louisiana Pacific yard. he fled on foot but was apprehended and held at Bonner County Jail on reckless driving grand theft auto and first degree burglary charges. Bond set at $5000.

Idaho right to work bill pulled from committee

Boise The sponsor Jay Shelledy quietly pulled the right to work bill from the House State Affairs Committee as expected Republican support failed to materialize. Leaders doubt passage and plan to seek a different committee or move the measure as a personal bill.
