The Clark Fork community hosted a surprise dinner at the Playhouse Bar in honor of former Congressman Compton White. About 60 locals praised his work on the Community Slab next to Clark Fork High School, a floodable ice rink and basketball tennis court funded with club effort and federal matching funds. White noted $2000 in funds tied up and hoped for a fence to be completed before costs reach 2500.

Guns Stolen From Residence In Sagle
Two firearms a 357 S W and a 338 Weatherby model 80 Winchester action were reported stolen from Jerry Spade Rt.1 Sagle. The thief also charged two tires to Spade at a local business. The sheriff's office continues the investigation.

Grand Jury Indicts Seven in Idaho Drug and Death Case
The Bonner County Grand Jury indicted seven people this week including four for drug charges. Alfred J. Rose of Priest River faces an involuntary manslaughter count for a DUI crash on U S 2 near State Highway 41 that killed Opal Irene Brady. Douglas Landru was the other driver. Leon and Claire Lewis face charges of resisting or obstructing police from a Dec 15 incident. Norman Hinman is charged with two counts of LSD delivery at the train depot on July 11 and July 20 to Randall L. Everitt. Tom Elgin faces two counts of secobarbital possession without authorization and one for Nembutal on Dec 24. Brian Kincaid is charged with marijuana-hashish delivery on July 12 to Everitt. Helen Cole faces two delivery counts to Everitt and Olmstead. Kevin Boot faces possession from a Sept 13 incident.

Student death investigated at Walla Walla College
Walla Walla Washington college police investigate the death of Ross Heinrichs, 20, of Vancouver British Columbia. The body was found beneath a running shower in Sutner Hall by a fellow student on Wednesday afternoon. Foul play is not suspected and cause of death is undetermined.

Sandpoint May Be Eligible For Federal Road Funds
The city may qualify for 90 percent federal aid under the Safer Roads Demonstration Program for safety improvements not on the federal-aid highway system. Illegal Track License Charged in Idaho
Kenneth Malone of Eagle claims the Idaho Racing Commission chairman allowed illegal licensure of a private track at Coeur d Alene. Father Thomas C Halpin denied the charge and said the commission asked for a CPA prepared audit from the Coeur d Alene Turf Club, but the club sent a certified audit not prepared by a CPA.
