A plan to pay student officers drew debate over credit and pay.
Thomas Baysinger 14 died January 4 in Stockton California from skiing injuries near Lake Tahoe. Funeral services Monday at Moon Chapel with Charles Wigton officiating. Burial Pine Crest Memorial Park. He was born June 24, 1957 in Spokane Washington and lived in Pleasanton with his parents F R Baysinger. He was a Boy Scout and member of the Presbyterian Church with several siblings and relatives listed.
Devon Keeler Powell, 66, died January 3 at Bonner General Hospital in Sandpoint. Born April 26, 1905 in Montebello, California, he married Evelyn Duhrkoff May 21, 1927 in Los Angeles. The Powells moved from Santa Barbara to Hope in 1970 and resided at Hope Ave. Evelyn survives with son Ron Powell and six grandchildren. sister Lucille Moulton of La Habra and brother Verlin A. Powell of San Marcos.
Kellogg former police judge and city clerk William Joseph Irvine was arraigned in district court at Wallace on a charge of misuse of public money. He allegedly omitted transferring 8267.50 to the Shoshone County treasurer and paid 2351.50 on July 13 1971 while $5916 remained outstanding. The funds were claimed as fines forfeitures and costs from Jan 1 1969 to Jan 11 1971.
