Sandpoint police and NCIC combined to arrest Thomas James McEwen 33, wanted in Red Lodge Montana for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution and grand larceny. He worked as a clerk at Pend Oreille Sport Shop in Sandpoint until yesterday and was jailed after a $5000 bond set by Justice Court Magistrate Margaret Burns.

The Sandpoint Eagles Lodge will run a ten week hunter safety course for boys and girls 11 and older starting Monday at 6 p.m. at the Sandpoint Rifle Range. Earl Chapin says 12 coaches will staff the program which covers gun safety and backcountry survival. 25 cents per week covers targets and incidental items. No advance registration is required. attendees should arrive next Monday at 6 p.m.

Andrus Retains Works Director for Legislative Session
Boise Idaho reports Gov Cecil D Andrus will keep Robert V De Shazo as public works director temporarily to present a budget to the 1970 legislative session. The governor may appoint a new director after the session. De Shazo and three partners who bought 480 acres south of Boise paid their 1970 land payments totaling 3940 dollars plus interest after a deadline extension to November 1 1970.

Interior Department reports Idaho mineral production fell to 116.5 million dollars in 1979 from 118.3 million in 1969. Silver remained the leading value product at 29 percent, with gains in antimony vanadium and copper. Copper up 9 percent in tonnage and value, while iron ore lead zinc and gold declined. Mercury from Idaho Almaden yielded 1014 flasks. The estimated value rose to 34.188 million dollars due to higher prices.
