Snow depth and water content on Schweitzer Basin snow courses exceed seven year averages. At 6100 feet the depth averaged 98 inches with 28 inches water, second highest on record. at 4500 feet near the lodge, depth averaged 73 inches with 17.1 inches water, also near record highs.

Copter Rescues Poisoned Toddler in Snowbound Idaho Ranch
A 2 year old boy, John Wesley Marker, consumed rat poison at the Yellow Jacket Ranch, 60 miles west of Salmon Idaho. He was flown by helicopter to Salmon and admitted in good condition at Steele Memorial Hospital. The rescue used backcountry radio and the helicopter landed on the Salmon High School football field guided by ambulance lights.

Snake River hunter drowns near Grand View Idaho

Police arrest two Oregon youths in stolen car case
Coeur d'Alene police identified two Oregon youths James Ray Weber, 18, and a 14 year old boy from Portland. They were arrested after officers were notified and will be returned to Oregon where they escaped from a juvenile institution.
